Verena Bragg: Professional Horse Trainer
The girl from Austria in the USA
Hi, I’m Verena Bragg and I’m on a mission to make your horse healthier and happier in their job. It’s still often practice to force a horse to work at a very young age. I’m hoping to educate you in the benefits of waiting a little, but that doesn’t mean we’ll let our youngsters grow “wild”.
What knowledge do I bring to the table that might spark your interest? Let me tell you a little bit of backstory to my person:

I was lucky to grow up with parents who loved riding. My dad focused on Dressage and Jumping, while my mom enjoyed Western riding. As a kid, AQHA Youth Clinics were affordable, and I learned Western Pleasure, Reining, and Trail on my talented Arabian, Ghibli. Western Shows started as all-breed events, but as they grew popular, Quarter Horses became the preferred choice. I got my first Quarter Horse, Rey Quixote Lena, and we quickly won our first Amateur Reining classes. Rey taught me the importance of good breeding, a lesson that became clear when I graduated from equestrian college and had my first clients right after.
Rey became also the reason why I ventured into hoof correctness, as an injury of his made me want to learn how to avoid accidents of this sort in the future.
My Arabian Ghibli sparked another great interest of mine. Horsemanship!
Horsemanship is about training horses by understanding their unique personality. I learned from Michael Grohmann and Parelli Instructor Walter Gegenschatz to begin my journey. I followed Mark Rashid’s books and studied with AQHA pro George Maschalani, but in the end, it's all about forming your own insights. I want to share this knowledge with you.
Above are two clips of my cherished horse, Joanie, to showcase where a good partnership can take you.
More about her will be in my upcoming “work stories”!
